Synopsis:
Rodaan Al Galidi fled his fatherland: Iraq. After seven years and nine months waiting in an asylum-seekers' center, he heard he had to leave the Netherlands so he went into hiding in a student room 2 x 3 meters in size. Here he wrote columns, poems, and novels in Dutch! Many of his books were nominated for and won prizes. When he performed, he had no trouble winning audiences over with his charm and humor. He was admiringly known as a refugee/cabaret artist. But underneath his jokes, the homesickness and melancholy were tangible. By the time a general pardon was finally announced, Rodaan had had enough of the Netherlands and left for Belgium, where the accent is softer and the chickens more amiable. A poetic film filled with melancholy and desire, humor and venom.
