Synopsis:
"The Life I Left Behind" is a documentary based on the real life story of a 10-year-old child named Monu going through drug abuse and neglect at home.
Monu was a drug addict at the age of 10. His father is a rickshaw puller and mother is domestic worker at local homes. He is the youngest of three siblings. The family is going though poverty and hardships, as Monu's father, the main breadwinner of the family, is an alcoholic. He abuses his wife, beats and tortures her. In the presence of this situation of neglect at home, Monu, who is a rag picker, has taken to bad company and developed the habits of substance abuse. The documentary ends with Monu, changed and uplifted after five months of being at a children’s home.
