Synopsis:
A dysfunctional family makes a cheap home movie about how they discover an ancient Egyptian mummy carrying a curse in their backyard. The son, a self-proclaimed scientist, wants to shelter the mummy in the family house, to keep it as a pet. This raises tension within the family, in particular between the son and his mother, a rabid collector of creepy dolls. The family's trashy home movie is inter-cut with a scientific Sunday afternoon documentary about Egyptian mummification. Gradually, the border between both films begins to fade, and they merge into one melancholic meditation on cinema and its role in the human quest for immortality.
