Temengor - Biodiversity In The Face Of Danger| 20mins
Director: Mohamed Harun Abdul Rahman & Lara Ariffa Kamarul Ariffin | Producer: Lara Ariffa Kamarul Ariffin
Focus Years: 2005 | Country: Malaysia
Synopsis:
Malaysia is home to one of the richest ecosystems on earth. In the 1940's, three quarters of Peninsular Malaysia was forested. Today only half of this remains, a plight painfully evident in one of the most biologically significant forests on earth - the Temengor Forest Reserve in the northern state of Perak. As a production forest, Temengor is vulnerable. Deforestation will deprive Malaysians of a priceless legacy and the threat is looming. This documentary offers a wake-up call to all who hold the key to Temengor's survival and serves to introduce the ordinary Malaysian to the concept of biodiversity and its role in providing fresh air, clean water and potentially life-saving medicines.
