Boys Don't Wear Nailpolish!| 11mins
Director: Siddharth Chauhan | Producer: Kamayani Bisht ,Siddharth Chauhan
Focus Years: 2013 | Country: India
Synopsis:
Set in the backdrop of the traditional Indian mindset, Siddharth Chauhan's 'Boys Don't Wear Nailpolish' is a poignant, eloquent and stirring statement on an unjust society where gender is reinforced in the child’s consciousness from his very birth and male behaviours are treated appropriate even for girls, whereas the reverse is not true.
The film is a short doc-fiction (based on "That Boy in Yellow Nailpolish!", an article written by Lalita Iyer) and a reflection on how our society rewards ‘gender-appropriate’ behavior in males and condemns the opposite, making it difficult for some children to face the world and be themselves.
