Aforetime the town of Miass was known as one of the gold mining and metallurgical centers of the South Ural. Oldbelievers started to settle down in this region since the 18th century. They brought to these parts and carefully kept their ancient religious and cultural tradition. They brought their ancient religious and cultural traditions and carefully kept it. Closure of oldbelievers’ monasteries in the middle of the 20th century forced the monks to live the rest of their days trying to pass their knowledge to mundane people. Thus a record of their singing was made for the prior of the church of Protection of the Most Holy Mother of God, which can be now heard in the film. Thus a nun named Minadora tried to teach a parishioner of the church Lubov Mikhaylovna Deikova the ancient art of znamenny chant and paskhalii (calculation of dates of Orthodox feasts with the help of hand).
