A Veil for the Republic?| 52mins
Director: Ted Anspach | Producer: Doc en Stock
Focus Years: 2009 | Country: France
Synopsis:
This movie is a work on-the-field on how, more or less insidiously, religion is stepping into the public space, in hospitals, in school restaurants, in swimming pools – and even into the holidays of civil servants which should be taken according to their own religious calendars! In Italy, creationism is already going after teachers and the government. Will it take over the textbooks of tomorrow, as the Italian Ministry for Education would suggest? Will Islamic law get into English courthouses? Based upon very concrete cases, this film raises questions which concern all of us: is religion threatening? A gripping social issue film, an investigation away from big speeches….
