Synopsis:
An international town in Soviet Azerbaijan, 1988. The main hero of our story is Ashen, an eight-year-old girl. Her parents are both Armenian, divorced, and living in different parts of the town. They can’t decide where their child should live, and periodically steal her from each other. The second wife of Ashen’s father is Russian. She became Ashen's second mother while she was living with them. All the people are good for Ashen. It doesn’t matter what nationality they are. But the conflict starts and the childhood is not protected from aggression of the adult world. When the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan breaks out, Ashen’s mother has to give her to her father in order to save her child… It saves Ashen but not her family. Losing her father and both mothers, Ashen goes with other refugees and in the bus she meets their Azerbaijani neighbor who couldn't save her daughter. The father was an Armenian. Maybe she will become Ashen‘s third mother.
