Synopsis:
In the beginning, when space and time started in the hot fireball we call the Big Bang, the world was simple, clear and symmetrical but time passed, the universe cooled, simplicity became complexity and the familiar world of change and diversity developed. Now scientists hope that through the combination of experiment and theory they can recapture the lost simplicity which underlies all things. Using unusual visualizations and in-depth interviews with physicists at the cutting edge of their discipline, we try to discover to what proportion the search for beauty, as well as logic, guides scientists in their search for a description of the fundamental workings of the universe that is concise enough to fit on a T-shirt.
