Synopsis:
Dijana Milošević, director of Dah Theatre, Serbia describes the response of Dah to civil war in the former Yugoslavia, and its role in supporting Serbian citizens to acknowledge the violence being committed in their names. The purpose of theatre, she says, is not to tell people what to do or what to think, but, even in the context of war, to create spaces that invite self-transformation. Scenes of powerful performances, on the stage and in the street, accompany her words. Theatre, she says paradoxically, is a “weapon for peace.” It can help us transform feelings of guilt into actions of responsibility. This film is part of a toolkit of short videos and print resources that accompany the award-winning film 'Acting Together on the World Stage.'
