Director: Davor Dirlic | Producer: Lizzette Atkins
Focus Years: 2004 | Country: Australia
Synopsis:
Following a decade of futile attempts to have their own children, a Melbourne couple travels to their native Croatia with a plan to adopt a child and bring it to Australia. After a long search they find a 4-year-old child eligible for adoption. However, due to the inter-country adoption legal requirements, the child is denied a visa to travel with her new parents to Australia. The father has to stay with her in Croatia while the mother returns to Melbourne to continue her full time job and support the family. Months pass by with the family being cut off. Eventually, more than a year into their journey, the child migration visa is issued and the family reunites in Melbourne.
