Sittana is an 83-year-old Sudanese female artist accustomed to living a rather unconventional life for a woman of her generation. Her persistence, creativity and her ability to go against all odds is an inspiration to the people who get the opportunity to share some time with her. Sittana tells us her story: How she grew up in the old city of Omdurman, Sudan’s former capital; her father’s influence on her life; and the moments where she was close to giving up but managed to get back to her special way of life. We also get an insight into the colourful world of her art, which seems to be an infinite source of positive energy for her and her environment. She also tells us about her book, in which she is documenting the lives and work of pioneer women in modern Sudan since 1907. Sittana doesn't think she is an activist, but whatever she does is empowering all women around her.
