Synopsis:
It is not news that the Nazis rounded up Jews in every country they invaded and sent as many as they could to slave labor or death camps. The majority of people in Belgium however, did not support this practice and would not capitulate. To mollify them, the Nazis allowed some Jewish orphanages and old age homes to operate. "Monsieur" is a portrait of a Belgian couple, who were married the day before Belgium was invaded. They made the extraordinary choice to run one of those orphanages throughout the war while being constantly harassed by the Nazis. The film depicts the lives of these orphans and tell the story of how the couple gave life and meaning to hundreds of orphans throughout the war by their extreme kindness and sensitivity.
