Two Women, One Journey| 50mins
Director: Helen Stehli Pfister | Producer: Marius Born
Focus Years: 2011 | Country: Switzerland
Synopsis:
On behalf of a Swiss foundation, two very different women join forces on a journey to Kyrgyzstan to visit children with facial malformations, whose parents have not had the financial means for the children to undergo operations.
Different life experiences led the two women on this journey. For Swiss top model, Sarina Arnold, the birth of her daughter with a serious cleft lip and palate came as a shock. The now retired pediatric surgeon, Brigitte Winkler, simply wants to share her knowledge and experience.
The film offers an insight into a country with a stunning scenery, but with great internal poverty and problems. It raises fundamental questions about our perception of beauty and society's judgement. In the end, the two women discover how much helping others also enrich their own lives.
