Synopsis:
Birsen Basar, a young Dutch-Turkish woman, is diagnosed with autism at 21. She is relieved to finally know why she is different. But soon she realizes that people's expectations don't change. In Turkish society, little is known about autism, so she tries to raise awareness for the problem, publishes two books and gives presentations. The filmmakers take us along in Birsen's life at home, at her work and with friends. With her mother, she recalls the lonely times in her youth. Birsen is a vivid portrait of a woman searching for her way in Dutch and Turkish societies and fighting for acceptance.
