Synopsis:
A year since the brutal gang-rape of a young girl on December 16, 2012 and the massive outpouring of public outrage onto the streets, Shikha Trivedy explores how far Indian cities have come to ensure women's safety. The urban planning and development in the last decade in metros like Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore have changed social patterns creating more public spaces where women find themselves vulnerable. Are technological and safety measures the solution to build a safe society or do we need to initiate a dialogue to heighten gender sensitivity?
