Synopsis:
“Invisible Years†is a 26-minute film that focuses on the lives of gay men in their 50s and 60s. The film was inspired by my own desire to better understand the culture I live in and to explore alternative approaches for the construction of my future as a gay man.
The film is neither fictional nor a traditional documentary, but rather a compilation of interviews. The interviews present thoughts and personal stories that relate to the issues that mature gay men face in today’s society. My subjects reflect on the forces that have shaped their present lives and expectations, and discuss their concerns about their future. They speak of identity, desire, prejudice, rejection, connection, loss and hope, and of navigating and negotiating the social, mental and physical changes they experience in life.
