Synopsis:
What changes in human beings after they are victims of armed conflict? What does it mean to live displaced by the border violence between two countries? More than a million and a half Colombians live in Venezuela and Ecuador. Many of them are forced to leave, victims of a conflict that has lasted half a century. Felipe Restrepo has been listening to their stories for decades. Using them he creates his sketches, his oil paintings, his sculptures and his stop motion animation. Borderland Birds. Nowhere Birds is a film about the anonymous beings that have built a new home in no man's land and how art is capable of finding poetry even in the most painful and tragic moments of life. An animated documentary that, at its core, is about the human capacity for re-invention.
