Synopsis:
In 2006, the Directorate General of Highways lends 3.8 billion for a proposal to build Road No. 26 from An-Shuo to Shu-Hai. The villagers in the tribe have many different kinds of opinions. People who agree with the proposal think that the road will improve the convenience of seeing a doctor, going to school and promoting the sightseeing and development. The other people who oppose it believe that it won’t resolve all of the problems of the tribe; rather, it will replace the old A-Lang-Yi path, which has a history of thousands of years, with a road for nuclear waste that could cause an ecological disaster.
â€Tribe’’ is the main point of this documentary, which describes the relationship between the land and people deeply, both objectively and subjectively. It is thought-provoking and inspires heart-searching between building and preserving. People have two kinds of opinions about this case, and neither is wrong. The real problem is this policy.
Pintung County Government delimited a reservation from Shu-Hai to Kuan-Yin-Pi on January 18, 2012, which meant that the building work had to stop and the old A-Lang-Yi path would be preserved. But at the same time, the government should consider the development of industry, the economy, living conditions, education and medical treatment. It would be a win-win situation of preserving the environment and developing the economy.
