Synopsis:
“Adelante Petroleros†documents the events related to oil extraction in Ecuador and strongly insists on a universal message: the exploitation of non-renewable natural resources does not create long-term development but rather inequality, exploitation, poverty and environmental disasters.
Despite the recognition of the fundamental rights of Nature in Ecuador’s constitution, the Ecuadorian rainforest is left open to international land grabbing.
On 15 August 2013, the President of Ecuador announced the decision to start oil drilling in the Yasuni National Park, proclaiming the end of the Yasunà ITT project, which was established 6 years before to protect the park from oil companies.
