Synopsis:
When filmmaker Josh Hanig died from pancreatic cancer in 1998 he left behind an infant son, Marshall, as well as a special request for his friends. He asked that they step in and be father figures to Marshall, that they take time out of their lives to take Marshall to ball games, teach him to dunk a basketball, and show him how to handle a camera – in essence fill the parenting role that Hanig was denied. Peter Entell, a fellow filmmaker who worked and traveled with Hanig, took the request to heart and decided to make a film honoring his late friend’s memory – one that hopefully would act as a guide for Marshall. He joins Josh's wife in Italy, where she and her son are visiting places which Josh once traveled. Retracing their footsteps through home movie footage and personal letters allows Entell to open up about his friend and to reminisce, grieve, and celebrate a great life. The result is an intimate and touching film about the universality of love and loss.
