The Darkest Summer is a documentary directed by Alba Forés and Rubén Soler Ferrer about the biggest environmental disaster that Valencia (Spain) has suffered in the last 20 years. From 28 June to 7 July 2012, 50.000 hectares were burnt; more than 2.000 people were evacuated; 20 villages were affected. In the case of the fire in Cortes de Pallàs, 12 villages were damaged: Cortes de Pallàs, Dosaigües, Macastre, Iàtova, Montroi, Real, Torís, Alboraig, Tous, Llombai, Catadau and Carlet. With respect to the fire in the area of Andilla, its flames reached 10 more villages. 9 special environmental areas from the 2000 Natura net were destroyed by the fire. This is a European net with natural places protected because of their high environmental value, the most important European political project to preserve nature.
