Synopsis:
"Sujan Bandhu (A Boatman's Journey)" to me is less a film and more the philosophy by which I was raised. I have grown up watching and trying to understand this river; to me it has always represented life. That’s why I have always been able to relate to my protagonist, and his relation to the river. No matter what life brings to us - good or bad - we still find hope in it. The river, like life, inspires us to keep moving. The river has shown him all its colors, and yet he sees it as his mother. He is a man who understands this basic lesson of life. Despite the dwindling profession, he refuses to be tied down. He knows that, when the time comes, he will move on and find another course. More than the documentation of his life, the film is the documentation of life itself.
