Synopsis:
Why would African-Americans volunteer to participate in clinical trials for HIV/AIDS vaccines? AIDS infection rates remain at epidemic proportions for people of color, yet many distrust the medical community and are reluctant to get involved in AIDS vaccine research. "Hope in Our Soul" is a documentary about a program to recruit African Americans in the metro Atlanta area to participate in clinical trials of HIV/AIDS vaccines. The Hope Clinic of the Emory Vaccine Center collaborates with Black churches to share information about HIV/AIDS vaccine trials and to discuss the varying attitudes of Black church leaders towards those with HIV/AIDS.
