The Circle of Immortality : Director: Susan Griffith-Jones | Genre: Documentary | Produced In: 2008
Synopsis: “The Circle of Immortality” is an artistic documentary whose inherent structure is based around the meaning of the five elements of wind, fire, earth, water and space. Depicting three different locations in Nepal, namely Muktinath (Northern Nepal), Lumbini (Southern Nepal) and Maratika (Eastern Nepal), this film highlights the meaning of the five elements according to symmetrical display, the time-frame of each location section pivots around a central point in the film that can be folded in half at the midway mark, just as each of the sections begin and end with the same style of visual in order to complete their particular circle. Although much of the symbology is embedded in the visuals themselves as they progress through their interpretation of each individual element in turn as well as collectively, the film portrays life and activities in each of these three places.
