Spiritual leaders, holy men and every day people alike gather to bathe in holy bodies of water. Ascetics and sadhus cover great distances to attend this event where they meet others who come to share the knowledge acquired on the road to enlightenment. The pilgrims worship Vishnu, the Creator, Shiva, the Destroyer and Brahman, the All Pervading. Each uses a different path to reach liberation to be free from the constraints of this world. The Kumbh Mela is a temporary spiritual parliament that creates and destroys the largest city in earth that only lives 40 days.
