Muktangan : Director: Ms. Jessica Gupta | Genre: Documentary | Produced In: 2007
Synopsis: Muktangan was initiated in the year 2003 by paragon Charitable Trust, as a pioneering educational program offering low cost, high quality English medium education to the economically disadvantaged sections of society. Muktangan has been founded and spearheaded by educationists Mrs Elizabeth Mehta, based on her 40 years of educational experience in India. Muktangan has created a cadre of teachers through training women from socio-economically challenged communities of Mumbai, who earlier had no career prospects, and are now teaching over 1000 children from their own communities in 7 pre-schools and a primary school. The model has been found relevant and predictable not only by the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) and others in the field of Urban education, but also by many NGOs with rural/tribal educational projects. We work in close partnership with MCGM and some NGOs.
