Bihar Floods vs Climate Change : Director: Ekta Kothari | Genre: Documentary | Produced In: 2008
Synopsis: More than three million people have been displaced by the flooding of the river Koshi in Bihar following the breach of the river's eastern embankment in Nepal on August 18, 2008. Around 800 villages in Madhepura, Supaul and other districts have been affected. Each major flood in Bihar causes a flurry of aerial surveys, relief packages and evacuations. The blame game goes on for a while, but nobody is concerned about the real cause of the Flood - Climate Change. As the earth is warming Himalayan glaciers are loosing volume at an increasing rate - leading to flash floods from the melt water, and soon after -the melting - the rivers will dry out. This film is an an attempt to raise awareness on the issue of climate change, and the grave consequences it can have on human lives unless something is done about it RIGHT NOW!
