In 2004, Amir Jaffer realized his childhood dream of telling intriguing and captivating stories through moving pictures, when he co-founded Aisha Media. He has produced narrative features and documentaries that have screened at local and international film festivals. In addition, some of the music videos he produced were broadcasted on LOGO Channel – an affiliate of MTV.
Most recently, he produced a short film for Academy Award nominated producer, Marc Smolowitz for The HIV Story Project called Blur. This project is a short film compilation that creates a panorama of stories to shed light on one of the world’s most pervasive health pandemics. It was Directed by Award winning and internationally acclaimed Director, Jorg Fockele.
With a Bachelors Degree in International Relations and a passion for filmmaking, Amir believes in making movies that are meaningful and that make people think. In a recent interview with a locally produced show, Amir said he “wanted to talk about things that most people are afraid to talk about” and “address issues through my movies so people can form more informed opinions and something that clears misconceptions”.
Amir Jaffer was born and raised in Karachi, Pakistan, and has been residing in the Bay Area since 1998.
