Synopsis:
"I am a Jewish Palestinian." At 92, Ruth Dayan, ex-wife of the legendary military man and defense minister Moshe Dayan, shows no signs of slowing down. If anything, she is more determined than ever to encourage Jewish Palestinian relations on the West Bank: "There is much to do and who knows how much time I have left to do it." The documentary observes this indefatigable campaigner for Israeli-Palestinian rapprochement. We observe her at home, in her "headquarters," and on the phone, to solve the countless problems she is confronted with. We witness her work and the changes she makes in people's lives as she drives tirelessly through Israel's Palestinian areas and visits Arab families and Bedouins in the Negev desert. She hears their problems and finds solutions. As she encourages a small Israeli fashion business to work with Palestinian crafts women, her tactics become clear: gentle persuasion which can easily lead to stubborn obstinance if need be. Luckily this does not happen often for who can deny a wise old lady her wish? We also learn what gave her her fighting spirit. In this film, this incredible woman talks frankly about her life, her marriage to Moshe, and how she sees the world now. Archive material tells of her childhood in Jerusalem, the period in the Moshav Nahalal, her marriage, and her work for the Maskit shops and fashion shows. We gain a glimpse into the life of someone who is truly making a difference in the world, against all odds.
