Synopsis:
A telling documentary film about the culture of Kenya. Kenya is currently at a political crossroads with clear alternatives and choices to be made. As it heads towards the constitutionally required elections, it is necessary to reflect on where it finds itself today. A review of political activity of the past shows a consistent pattern of incremental, small changes - often reversed or diluted subsequently. Similarly, there have been relatively minor changes in the ranks and beliefs of those wielding power. Those calling for significant change have increasingly been found outside of the ruling political party, and have been consistently ignored, silenced or marginalized. From inside the country and from international agencies and observers, there is growing appreciation of the need for substantive structural change. Changes that are merely cosmetic and tamper with the system without fundamentally altering the balances of power in the country are increasingly regarded as inadequate and dangerous. This documentary covers all these changes and shows us the pertinent equations of development, justice and human rights.
