Synopsis:
Kimmie Weeks was ten years old when the rebels entered his home town of Monrovia, Liberia. He and his mother fled and spent 6 months living in the corner of a room, near starvation and battling malaria, cholera, and yellow fever. Kimmie vowed that if he survived he would dedicate his life to fighting for the rights of children. He did survive and, only a child himself, campaigned to raise awareness of the governments' use of children as soldiers, under Charles Taylor. When Kimmie refused to take back his claims, he was hunted and threatened and had to flee Liberia. Six years later, now 21 and having spent formative years in the USA, Kimmie feels it is safe to go home. This is the story of his return through Sierra Leone and on to Liberia; we follow Kimmie as he faces his fears and his demons, confronts his past and reconciles with his future.
