I work as Program Producer at The Mary Baker Eddy Library; we host and record events that in some way relate to the ideas and life experience of Mary Baker Eddy, founder of the Christian Science faith and "The Christian Science Monitor" news source. These range from topics like "Nursing's Spiritual Roots in Contemporary Practice," which included noted nursing theorist, Jean Watson, of the Watson Caring Science Institute, to social entrepreneurship in which Alan Khazei, founder of the youth service organization, City Year, was a participant.

Synopsis:
This is a video of a panel discussion given on the subject of spiritual awakening and ideas that grew out of 19th-century New England. This event was held as part of a series of performances and presentations in celebration of the centenary of Mary Baker Eddy's life, 1821-1910. The presentation included discussion and performance with a panel consisting of a Pulitzer-prize winning biographer, a historical reenactor, and the executive director of a cultural institution dedicated to the Alcott family, which included famed author Louisa May Alcott and the Transcendentalist philosopher, Bronson Alcott; the presentation also included a professor with authorship and expertise on the subject of Bronson Alcott and Mary Baker Eddy, founder of Christian Science. The event embraced ideas relating to education and spirituality, and the importance of the soul in learning and perceiving reality.
