On the Beirut Riviera, she asks a French tourist for money. The tourist doesn’t want to give her money. She annoys the shoe-cleaner as well. Her brother who sends her to collect money watches her. The tourist crosses the street to buy a newspaper. Abir’s brother asks her for the money. She swears that she didn’t get any. He threatens her and tells her that she will sleep on the streets at night. The tourist comes back to defend her. He speaks French. The brother speaks Arabic. They don’t understand each other. Abir runs away. The tourist follows her. Feeling guilty, he gives her money. She refuses by spitting on it. He shows her his family photo. Abir likes the little girl on the photo. The tourist, Charles, says that the little girl, Isabelle, his daughter, is not here anymore (she is dead). Abir takes the photo. The tourist gets angry, wants his photo back. After they tear the photo, the tourist leaves. Abir keeps the photo and identifies with Isabelle.
