Synopsis:
Honduras is a country that faces a future of economic and political instability. For the nation's poorest, who are often tenant farmers or small-plot landowners, they aspire to little more than bare subsistence. The entire nation's future is held captive by its inability to feed itself.
"Saving the Seed" documents the FIPAH organization, a multinational non-profit whose mission is to promote food sustainability by training poor farmers to become food scientists — testing food varieties that work best in local climates, empowering them to organize and share techniques among one-another, and helping them take control of their future.
"Saving the Seed" interviews Honduran farmers whose lives have been transformed by FIPAH and examines the benefits of biodiversity, farmer education, and how the future of the world's poorest depends on changing the way we farm.
