The Last Farm in Lowell| 59mins
Director: Andrew SzavaKovats | Producer: Andrew SzavaKovats
Focus Years: 2010 | Country: United States
Synopsis:
A motion picture portrait of the last working farm in the City of Lowell: Rollie‘s Farm. We took an intimate, personal approach to portraying the Perron family who worked and struggled, keeping a farm for more than 50 years, even with all the odds stacked against them. With the revived interest in local farming and food production, and the impending loss of that way of life from Lowell, I felt an urgency to document it. “The Last Farm in Lowell†shows a personal, human perspective on the farm: past, present and future. It is also a microcosm of a national trend, to witness the disappearance of small farms. My mission is to show the beauty and value of the farm as a land use, the personal dedication and sacrifice by the man who keeps it alive, as well as the sense of community that surrounds the farm, with wide-ranging enthusiastic support from area customers.
