Synopsis:
Shot on location on the land originally involved in the biggest oil swindle in the history of the U.S., the Teapot Dome scandal, this short documentary film shows how a rig works, while juxtaposing the industrial workings of oil extraction with the beautiful landscape of central Wyoming. It is a testament to the machine, showing the ghost ship of the highly automated rig, an organism unto itself; isolated, never stopping, always digging for oil; the recurring animalistic shriek of the brake, the endless circulation and respiration of the drilling mud and fumes. The viewer bears witness to man’s industrial processes, the endless search for oil and the lands they take place on.
