Synopsis:
Somewhere between fiction and non-fiction, "Who the Hell is Bobby Roos?" is about the decline, fall, and potential recovery of an entertainer who, lacking a "self," is addicted to taking on the personalities of celebrities. Bobby Roos is a world class celebrity impressionist. His impressions of Robert DeNiro, Robin Williams, Al Pacino and many others have brought him fame. But when his moment of fame is over, he finds himself not just without a job, but without a personality of his own. He is an empty shell. He reaches out to colleagues, friends and family for help, but Bobby is incapable of any personal relationships without relying upon the vicarious personalities of his famous adopted personae. The problem can only be solved from within himself, by starting over. The film reaches into the dark and dangerous corners of the human mind, touches on the subject of madness, and suggests the possibility of recovery, transcendence and hope. Based on the real life experiences of its star, Roger Kabler, the film is an unsettling mix of entertainment and hard emotional truth. Shot entirely through improvisations and mixing real-life footage from Roger's archive of television and stand-up appearances, the film is a realistic portrait of Roger Kabler's alter ego. Roger has the skill and the strength as an actor to return to scary places in his psyche with honesty, integrity, and a sense of humor.
