Synopsis:
The traveler finishes his journey among the Jali with new native people. Even though several villages live on a primitive level (using stone axes and wearing all-natural clothing), remote contact with the civilized world is visible here (they have discovered iron axes and textiles). The traveler has therefore moved on to the eastern portion of New Guinea. He arrives in the central highlands of Papua New Guinea, where the tribes were the last to be discovered by our civilization. He visits the Huli tribe, where the men make special wigs. He becomes acquainted with their tribal clothing and takes part in their rituals. He becomes acquainted with other tribes that were discovered in the 1930s, and explains the situation faced by hundreds of tribes in today’s world. The last tribe he gets to know is the Asars, nicknamed “soilheads”, and their legends.
