Synopsis:
This film in two parts explores the intimate relationship between man and river in India. Here, the river is not just water. It is considered 'Tirth', something that enables one to crossover from the mundane to the spiritual. Right from morning to evening, from birth to death one is tied to the river in invisible bonds. The first part culminates with the question- How can the river not but be a goddess? The second half probes how the river is actually worshiped as a goddess. Festivals are held in her honor where in the form of an idol she is taken out in a palanquin. Though we worship the river, we Indians often overlook the fact that mere worship is not enough. We need to nurture and keep the river clean. The river cleanses our souls but who's going to clean the river? This question surges in gentle irony towards the end of the film.
