Our Ruda| 54mins
Director: Tomo Čonkaš | Producer: Tomo Čonkaš
Focus Years: 2012 | Country: Slovenia
Synopsis:
The movie talks about a Slovenian man picturing the world of images from the past. We experience this world with Rudolf Strme nik, or Ruda, through his revival and recreation of old traditions, work life, and habits. His versatile skills are the center of events. In this film, there are no descriptions, comments, or explanations from the outside. Ruda starts working with old tools as a coal miner, charcoal maker, and wood worker, showing us a different image and an authentic outfit of events by using the original language, among other things. With Ruda's charm, he attracts the locals to help him with his tasks, before the revival of unprecedented wealth of Slovenian cultural heritage; otherwise, these traditions would live only in a few faded memories or documents.
Our Ruda inspires us to look within, understand our common roots, and rekindle the values of a genuine and full-fledged life.
