Synopsis:
For Amina, the bustle of a busy suburb of Kampala appears to mirror her own state of mind. On the streets, men make sexual advances at her; at school, a teacher targets her as the object of his desire. Amina's story is the story of many young girls in Uganda who struggle to escape the sexual violence that they encounter from all corners of their day-to-day lives. It portrays the ingenuity they must summon, the odds they have to beat to simply have access to opportunities to fulfill their ambitions.
"Through My Eyes" brings together four stories of children in different parts of Uganda, each struggling to retain their dignity in the face of violence against them. All four stories are based on true events and are told from the child’s perspective. The stories tell the story of many young girls and boys in Uganda, who struggle to escape the violence that they encounter in their day-to-day lives. Our films are made from the perspective of children who have experienced violence but have refused to remain victims. Each story is a testament to children’s ingenuity, resiliency, and humanity.
