Synopsis:
In Greece, in a remote region of Arcadia, live the "stubborn" Tsakonians. For 3,000 years now, they have never stopped speaking their ancient dialect, the only survivor of Doric language. In the '60s a period of neglect began: compulsory schooling and forced use of the modern Greek language, roads, tourists, emigration contributed to the neglect. The Tsakonian case is not unique. According to the UN, half of the languages spoken today face the same threat of extinction and oblivion. This movie is about the loss of identity: what it means to know that your language will have vanished in a hundred years’ time.
