Synopsis:
There has been unprecedented priority given in recent years to sustainable cities and green building (a very positive trend), but too often the result are places that are not especially green in the literal sense. While not a perfect story, there are few dense cities in the world today that can claim a better record of greening the city than Singapore. A whirlwind week in Singapore chasing up amazing biophilic stories with CUSP Institute Prof Peter Newman and Uni of Virginia Prof Tim Beatley. The five interviews include: 'Canopies and Connectors' with Dr Lena Chan, NParks, at Botanical Gardens; 'Living Walls' with architect Kelvin Kan, at 158 Cecil Street; 'Healing Power of Greenery' with CEO Liak Teng Lit, at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital; 'Loving Plants' with teacher Mohan Krishnamoorthy, at Hougang Primary School. 'Greening the Waterways' with landscape architect Herbert Dreiseitl, at Bishan Park.
