The Red Stone| 48mins
Director: Ahmad Damen | Producer: Nizar Younes
Focus Years: 2012 | Country: Palestine
Synopsis:
Taking its title from the characteristics of The Red Stone from which many of Jerusalem’s historic buildings are built, Ahmad Damen’s investigative documentary focuses on Palestinian areas of West Jerusalem that were depopulated of their original Palestinian inhabitants after Al Nakba in 1948. By tracking the architectural and family histories of some of these splendid properties, The Red Stone introduces the buildings’ current occupants, the Israeli real estate agents trading in their “exotic†appearances, and the original owners, now barred from their homes. A powerful story of conflict and architecture.
