Synopsis:
in an area that has become the symbol of the environmental disaster in Campania, four hundred Roma people live in an enclosure of sheet metal. A temporary camp has been built by the municipal administration of Giugliano, who spent about 400,000 Euros on the land, but which over the years has been ruined by all sorts of toxic waste, both legal and illegal. 'Terrapromessa' tells about the crime perpetrated against a community forced to live there. This is illustrated through images of the campsite, experiences from the inhabitants, voices of journalists, and the unequivocal words of the Government Commissioner Mario De Biase, who describe the area as 'Most dangerous in terms of health risks; incompatible with the status of a human settlement'. The location of the field, Masseria del Pozzo - Schiavi, covers an area of 30 sq km, and six landfills are today placed under seizure. According to the Commissioners who administer the town of Giugliano, it is a decision 'in compliance with the European directives'. The inhabitants of the camp fear for their children's health, so they try to invoke the help of the institutions. Thirty years ago they were settled in the province of Naples as they were forced to flee from war in former Yugoslavia. However, there has not been any improvement in their life conditions or recognition of rights or dignity. A condition that one of the inhabitants describes like this: 'We are the last nation on Earth. I know that my people are poor, but we are humans too'.
