The Tree and the Fire| 52mins
Director: Daniel Derenne | Producer: Daniel Derenne
Focus Years: 2007 | Country: France
Synopsis:
In Madagascar, fire is a gift from God. For modern societies, fire is a main ecological disaster. For the Tanala tribe, "the men who live into the forest", fire is much more than an ancestral technique to gain ground in order to plant rice. This is a link with the sacred. For our Western society, it is just necessary to stop it quickly, for fear of the planet change for the worse. The documentary, by the voice of the Tree and the memory of the Red Island, relates a completely different perception of the nature between a Malagase tribe and Marovita the shaman living in the forest of the spirits and American scientists who want to save the world!
