Synopsis:
“Out of the Mist†chronicles the untold story of the Pygmies of the Bwindi rainforest in Southwest Uganda, Africa. In 1980, at the urging of gorilla activists, the forest was gazetted, baring all human residents from living there. The Pygmy tribes, which inhabited the dense forest for 40,000 years, were forced, by gunpoint, by the government to relocate into open unfamiliar clear cut settlements. Now as refugees they are at risk of loosing their culture and their lives. The question is, will their culture survive? "In the course of researching my last book: 'Conservation Refugees: The Hundred Year Conflict Between Global Conservation and Native Peoples', I watched many documentaries produced around the world. None was more illuminating, scholarly or professionally rendered than Fracesca Roveda's 'Out of the Mist'" -Mark Dowie. To learn more, please visit htp://outofthemist.weebly.com
