Synopsis:
At a time when India is shying away from the internalization of its insidious caste paradigm, this 30 minutes film crisply focuses on atrocities against Dalits in Tamil Nadu, India over the last four decades. The film begins with the scene at the KandaDevi temple where the Dalits are not allowed to draw the temple chariot and goes back to the 1968 Keezhavenmani incident when 44 Dalits were burnt alive by caste Hindus. The testimonies of victims of caste violence are interpersed with comments from experts and intellectuals. This film was specially made for the purpose of screening at the WORLD CONFERENCE AGAINST RACISM IN DURBAN, SOUTH AFRICA, 2001.
This film won the 'Best Editing' award at London Cinesangam Festival 2001. Screened in the Asia Social Forum Film festival Hyderabad 2003.
