The Freeconomists : Director: Steve Cheeseman | Genre: Documentary | Produced In: 2009
Synopsis: “The Freeconomists” follows the daily activities of Mark Boyle; a self-styled revolutionary who, inspired by his spiritual and political icon Gandhi, believes that money is the root cause of all the problems in the world today. Mark chose to illustrate this problem by living for a year with no money. Mark lived as a true "freeconomist," leading a self-sufficient lifestyle in a caravan, growing his own food and reusing junk that people have thrown away. But is this a likely future for all of mankind? Can we really learn to give up our foreign cars, expensive clothes and international eating habits and all become self-sufficient? Or is Mark just an idealist who will himself struggle to survive in a society already ravaged by a global economic downturn? Does human kindness really still exist?
